Indians host Reds in interleague matchup

CLEVELAND (Ticker) - "The Battle for Ohio" will be a matchup of teams heading in opposite directions as the the Cleveland Indians host the Cincinnati Reds in interleague play on Friday.

The Indians have won 11 of their last 17 games to move into first place in the American League Central Division. Meanwhile, the Reds have won just three of their last 15 games and fallen into the basement of the National League Central.

Jeremy Sowers (0-3, 6.56 ERA) gets the start fro Cleveland, which is seeking its fourth consecutive win. The lefthander has struggled badly in his last two starts, allowing 12 runs in just seven innings.

The Reds counter with Matt Belisle (3-3, 4.38) who has lost his last two starts. In his last start against the San Diego Padres on Monday, he took the loss after allowing seven runs and 10 hits in five innings.

Brandon Phillips has a 19-game hitting streak for the Reds.

Cleveland is 93-82 in interleague play while the Reds are 61-78. The teams split six games last year.
