RHP Bush tries to get reeling Brewers back on track

May 19, 2007 - 2:28 PM Minnesota (19-22) at Milwaukee (26-16) 7:05 pm EDT

MILWAUKEE (Ticker) -- The Milwaukee Brewers have slipped up recently. Dave Bush will do his best to get them headed in the right direction.

Bush will attempt to halt the Brewers' struggles when they continue their interleague series with the Minnesota Twins on Saturday.

The Brewers, who entered last weekend's series with the New York Mets on a season-high six-game winning streak, have now dropped six of eight after absorbing an 8-1 setback in the opener with the Twins on Friday.

Milwaukee may have a hard time getting back on track against Minnesota, which has won six of the seven meetings dating back to last season. Minnesota tied Boston for the best interleague record at 16-2 last season.

One of the reasons the Brewers have been struggling is their lack of offense. Milwaukee has scored a combined nine runs in its last four games and managed just three hits on Friday.

Bush (3-3, 5.47 ERA) was denied a win his last time out as the bullpen allowed Philadelphia to score six runs in the eighth inning of an 8-6 loss on Wednesday. The righthander allowed two runs and four hits in 5 1/3 innings.

Minnesota, which snapped a three-game losing streak Friday, will counter with Scott Baker (NR).

Baker was called up from Class AAA Rochester to start in place of Sidney Ponson, who was released on Sunday. Baker was 3-2 with a 3.16 ERA in 42 1/3 innings for Rochester this season, and has a career record of 8-11 with a 5.19 ERA in 25 major league starts.
