Meche takes the hill as Royals aim for fourth straight win
May 19, 2007 - 3:12 PM Kansas City (16-27) at Colorado (17-25) 8:05 pm EDTDENVER (Ticker) -- Gil Meche now has the tough task of keeping the Kansas City Royals rolling along Saturday when they continue their visit to the Colorado Rockies.
Kansas City is on the verge of winning four straight road games for the first time since 2003. A victory would also give the Royals their first four-game overall winning streak since last July 4-7.
Meche (3-1, 1.91 ERA) hopes to continue his road scoreless innings streak following Monday's 2-1 victory over Oakland. He allowed seven hits and struck out five in seven scoreless frames.
The righthander is 9-2 with a 3.35 ERA in his 15 career outings against the National League, including an impressive 5-0 mark since June 14, 2005.
Taylor Buchholz (1-2, 7.52) takes the ball for the Rockies as he tries to bounce back after giving up eight runs and 12 hits - both season highs - in 4 2/3 innings of 15-2 loss to San Francisco on Sunday.
The 25-year-old has only faced Kansas City once, surrendering two runs and two hits in six innings for a win as a member of the Houston Astros on June 17.
In Friday's interleague series opener, Emil Brown capped a five-run eighth inning with a three-run homer as the Royals rallied for a 5-2 victory.
