Johnson seeks first win at Pittsburgh's PNC Park
May 20, 2007 - 12:44 PM Arizona (23-21) at Pittsburgh (19-23), 1:35 pm EDTPITTSBURGH (Ticker) - Randy Johnson will look to build on his last start when the Arizona Diamondbacks visit the Pittsburgh Pirates on Sunday.
The 43-year-old lefthander on Tuesday had his best outing of the year, pitching six scoreless innings against the Colorado Rockies at hitter-friendly Coors Field. Johnson (1-2, 4.80 ERA) allowed just one hit, struck out nine and did not allow a walk.
The five-time Cy Young Award winner is 0-2 with a 3.60 ERA in two career starts at PNC Park, where he hasn't pitched since August 25, 2004.
Pittsburgh starter Paul Maholm (2-5, 5.67) will try to get his season on track after going 1-3 with a 7.71 ERA during his last four starts. The 24-year-old lefthander has been victimized by the home run in his last two starts, allowing three longballs in each game.
Tony Clark hit a pinch-hit grand slam and Carlos Quentin singled in two runs as the Diamondbacks rallied from a 7-1 deficit to beat the Pirates, 9-8, on Saturday.
Rookie Mark Reynolds, who had his contract purchased from Class AA, belted his first career homer in the second inning for Arizona. Reynolds is batting .429 (6-for-14) with five RBI in four games since his MLB debut Wednesday at Colorado.
The Diamondbacks have scored 14 runs in two games in Pittsburgh after failing to score more than four runs in 15 games this month.
