Harang takes mound in rubber match

CLEVELAND (Ticker) -- Aaron Harang will come off the bereavement list and Brandon Phillips looks to extend his hitting streak as the Cincinnati Reds hope to win their interleague series against the Cleveland Indians on Sunday.

Harang (5-1, 4.42 ERA) was placed on the bereavement list last Thursday so he could be with his ailing grandfather.

Harang allowed one run and two hits in nine innings in his last start Tuesday against San Diego, but did not get a decision in Cincinnati's 2-1 victory in 12 innings.

Phillips extended his hitting streak to 21 games in Saturday's 10-5 victory. The former Indian went 2-for-4 with a three-run home run. David Ross also hit a three-run shot for the Reds, who have a 5-13 record in May.

The loss snapped Cleveland's eight-game home winning streak.

The Indians are 15-4 at home this season and have not lost two straight games at Jacobs Field this season.

Cleveland will send Paul Byrd to the mound to oppose Harang, who has 53 strikeouts in nine starts this season. Byrd (3-1, 3.49 ERA) won his last start, pitching seven innings in a 15-7 triumph over Minnesota on Tuesday. The righthander gave up five runs and seven hits with seven strikeouts.
