Braves send Hudson to mound in search of series win

BOSTON (Ticker) -- The Atlanta Braves and Boston Red Sox took turns displaying their offensive force on Saturday. Each team is hoping for a better pitching performance on Sunday.

The Braves send Tim Hudson to the mound when they visit the Red Sox in the rubber game of the series.

Boston pounded out a season-high 18 hits in the opener of Saturday's day-night doubleheader en route to a 13-3 drubbing. Atlanta returned the favor in the nightcap, managing a season-high 18 hits in a 14-0 victory.

Hudson (5-1, 1.77 ERA) has been stellar this season. The veteran righthander has yet to yield more than three runs in a start this season, and has picked up wins in his last two starts.

Hudson, who spent the first six years of his career with Oakland, has always had trouble with the Red Sox. He owns a 3-7 career mark with a 5.80 ERA in 10 career starts against Boston.

The Red Sox will counter with their second rookie pitcher in a row - Kason Gabbard (NR). The 25-year-old lefthander was 3-1 with a 2.75 ERA in eight starts this season for Class AAA Pawtucket.

Gabbard appeared in seven games - four starts - last season for Boston, managing a 1-3 record with a 3.91 ERA.

Rookie Devern Hansack surrendered four runs - three earned - in four innings in Saturday's second game before leaving with a finger contusion.
