Danks, White Sox look for third win in a row, face Athletics

CHICAGO (Ticker) -- Rookie John Danks and the Chicago White Sox offense are both peaking at just the right time.

Danks and the White Sox look for their third straight victory when they host the Oakland Athletics in the second game of a three-game series on Tuesday.

Chicago defeated Oakland, 8-5 on Monday, pounding out a season-high 14 hits. It was the second consecutive productive game for the White Sox, who scored 10 runs Sunday vs. the cross-town rival Cubs to salvage the finale of a three-game set. The wins were two of the three highest-scoring games Chicago has produced in 2007.

The White Sox turn to Danks, who will look to continue his recent run of outstanding pitching. The lefthander, who has pitched at least six innings in four straight starts, yielded two runs over 6 1/3 innings and struck out a career-high seven in a 5-3 victory over the New York Yankees last Wednesday.

Colby Lewis, who toes the rubber for the A's, was just called up from Triple-A Sacramento. The 27-year-old has made 33 starts, all with the Texas Rangers, from 2002-2004.

Last season, the righthander made just two relief appearances for Detroit, allowing one run in three innings. Since the start of 2004, he's made only five major league appearances.

The Athletics have lost two straight and four of their last six contests.
