Kennedy looks for run support as Athletics visit Orioles
May 26, 2007 - 1:55 PM Oakland (24-23) at Baltimore (21-27), 7:35 pm EDTBALTIMORE (Ticker) -- Joe Kennedy will be looking for some rare run support when the Oakland Athletics visit the Baltimore Orioles on Saturday.
Kennedy (1-3, 2.70 ERA) has not allowed just one run in six of his eighth starts this season and has yet to give up more than three runs in a game this season. However, the lefthander has been the victim of poor run support.
His lone victory this season was a 17-3 win against the Kansas City Royals on May 10, but the Athletics have scored just 15 runs in the other seven games started by Kennedy this year.
Brian Burres (1-2, 3.67) makes his fourth start for the Orioles in place of the injured Adam Loewen, who is on the 60-day disabled list with a stress fracture in his left elbow. The lefthander has had trouble working deep into games as he hasn't logged more than five innings in any of his three starts.
With a 3-2 win against Erik Bedard here on Friday, the Athletics improved 11-7 against lefthanded pitchers.
Nick Swisher hit a two-run homer in the win and has hit three of his seven home runs this season against Baltimore.
Oakland has won 14 of their last 16 games in Oriole Park at Camden Yards and are 54-23 against Baltimore since 1999.
