RHP Eaton takes the mound as Phillies look to break .500

ATLANTA (Ticker) -- Adam Eaton will try and help the Philadelphia Phillies get over the .500 mark for the first time this season.

Eaton takes the mound on in the second game of a three-game series with the Atlanta Braves on Saturday.

Philadelphia, which started the season just 4-11, has flirted with breaking the .500 mark, alternating wins and loses in the last eight games.

The Phillies got back to .500 by beating Atlanta 8-3 behind seven strong innings from Jamie Moyer and a two-run double from Ryan Howard, who played for the first time since May 9. Howard had been on the disabled list with a left quadriceps strain.

While Howard is healthy, Philadelphia will have to do without closer Brett Myers for a while. He was placed on disabled list on Friday with right shoulder strain.

Meanwhile, Eaton (4-3, 5.70 ERA) is coming off his best start of the season as he allowed just four hits in six shutout innings in a 5-3 win over Toronto on Sunday.

The Braves, who have lost eight out of 12, will send a journeyman to the mound in place of the released Mark Redman. Buddy Carlyle (NR) makes his first start of the season after being called up from Class AAA Richmond.

Carlyle, 30, has logged nearly 1,000 minor-league innings and has not started since 1999 when he was called up by the San Diego Padres and started seven games. He was 5-2 with a 2.59 ERA in Richmond this season.
