Dodgers seek second four-game winning streak of season

May 26, 2007 - 2:04 PM Chi Cubs (21-25) at LA Dodgers (28-20) 3:55 pm EDT

LOS ANGELES (Ticker) -- Less than 24 hours after benefiting from the bat of a former Cub, the Los Angeles Dodgers hope to prolong Chicago's agony for the nation to see.

Juan Pierre and the Dodgers will continue their three-game set with the Chicago Cubs on Saturday at Dodger Stadium in a nationally televised game.

Pierre's sacrifice fly in the bottom of the eighth to score pinch runner Brady Clark gave Los Angeles a thrilling 9-8 comeback win in a game in which the normally reliable Dodger bullpen allowed the Cubs to post a seven-run seventh. The Chicago rally wasted another fine outing by ace Derek Lowe.

Nevertheless, Los Angeles has bounced back following a season-high four-game losing streak but have not won four consecutive games since April 4-8.

Mark Hendrickson (2-1, 3.22 ERA), who is 1-0 with a 2.29 ERA in four lifetime appearances including two starts against the Cubs, hopes to change that. For that to happen, however, the 6-10 lefthander will need to change his recent history.

Since picking up his last win on May 2 against the Diamondbacks, Hendrickson has surrendered more runs in each subsequent start, capped off by a 6-2 loss to the Angels last Saturday in which he surrendered season highs in runs (6), earned runs (5) and hits (9). Hendrickson will make his first career start against the Cubs.

Cubs ace Carlos Zambrano (4-4, 5.61) will look to uphold his strong track record against Los Angeles. The two-time All-Star is 1-1 with a 1.74 ERA in eight career appearances including four starts - against the Dodgers.

In his last outing against the White Sox, the righthander allowed a season-high seven runs and walked four in a 10-6 loss.
