Morris goes for sixth win as Giants host Rockies

May 26, 2007 - 2:12 PM Colorado (21-27) at San Francisco (24-23), 9:05 pm EDT

SAN FRANCISCO (Ticker) -- Matt Morris looks to build off his best start of the season when the San Francisco Giants host the Colorado Rockies on Saturday.

Morris (5-1, 2.93 ERA) allowed one run two hits and two walks while striking out nine in a complete-game 4-1 win against the Oakland Athletics on Sunday. The 6-5 righthander has pitched well in the month of May throughout his career, going 20-13 and holding opponents to a .239 batting average in 46 appearances.

The month of May has been a turning point for Colorado starter Aaron Cook (3-1, 4.55) this season. After going winless in six starts in April, the righthander is 3-0 with and in four starts this month despite having a a 5.79 ERA over that span.

Cook picked up his second win of the season in a 5-3 win over the Giants on May 10. He allowed three runs, six hits and four walks in that game.

The Rockies rallied from a 3-0 deficit here on Friday to post a 5-3 win and end the Giants four-game win streak. The Rockies, winners of three straight, scored all five of their runs with two outs, including Kaz Matsui's go-ahead RBI single in the ninth off Armando Benitez.

Held hitless on Friday, Barry Bonds continues to struggle - he is 0-for-11 in his last four games and hasn't driven in a run since May 8, the date of his last home run. Bonds is stuck on 745 career homers, 11 shy of breaking Hank Aaron's all-time record.
