RHP Lackey aims for major league-leading eighth win

BRONX, New York (Ticker) - John Lackey will try for his major-league leading eighth win and help the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim continue to frustrate the New York Yankees.

Lackey (7-3, 2.38 ERA) takes the mound as the Angels look for a three-game sweep of the Yankees on Sunday.

The righthander is going for his fourth straight win after posting a 1.86 ERA in his last starts. In his last outing, Lackey limited the Detroit Tigers to one run and three hits in five innings in a 6-3 win on Tuesday.

The Angels have won 17 of the last 25 meetings and that they will be looking for their first three-game sweep of New York since 2004.

Meanwhile the Yankees have dropped two in a row and 10 of 15. New York is hoping that Mike Mussina's track record against the Angels will help get them in the win column.

Mussina (2-3, 6.52) has not pitched well recently, but does own a 15-8 career record and a 3.45 ERA in 29 starts against Los Angeles. Mussina has allowed 12 runs in his last two starts, including a seven runs in 6 2/3 innings in a loss to Boston on Tuesday.
