Wolf aims to tie major-league lead with seventh win
May 27, 2007 - 2:02 PM Chicago Cubs (22-25) at LA Dodgers (28-21) 4:10 pm EDTLOS ANGELES (Ticker) -- Mere afterthoughts at the start of the season, Randy Wolf and Rich Hill are making taking the National League by storm this season.
Wolf and the Los Angeles will meet Hill and the Cubs in the rubber match of a three-game weekend series at Dodger Stadium.
With a win on Sunday, Wolf (6-3, 3.75 ERA) will tie four other starters in the majors who have already won seven games. The lefthander, who has struck out 22 over his last 19 innings - all wins - will be going for his fourth straight win in this contest.
On Tuesday, the 29-year-old yielded two runs and three hits over seven frames, striking out four in a 3-2 win over Milwaukee. He owns a 2-5 record with a 4.76 ERA in 11 lifetime starts against the Cubs.
Chicago will counter with Rich Hill (4-4, 3.38), who will try to end a personal three-game losing streak. The lefthander, who was 4-1 with a 1.73 ERA on May 5, has seen his ERA nearly double during his skid with all the losses coming on the road.
In Tuesday's 5-1 loss at San Diego, Hill surrendered a season-high five runs despite striking out eight. He will be making his first career appearance against the Dodgers.
