Trachsel seeks another win as Orioles visit Royals
May 28, 2007 - 1:14 PM Baltimore (23-27) at Kansas City (19-32), 7:10 pm EDTKANSAS CITY, Missouri (Ticker) - Both the Baltimore Orioles and their starting pitcher will be after a third consecutive win when they visit the Kansas City Royals on Monday.
Baltimore stater Steve Trachsel (3-3, 3.77 ERA) has won his last two starts and is looking to win three consecutive games for the first time since August 18-29, when he was a member of the New York Mets. Though he did not get the win, the righthander was in control during his last start against the Royals on April 12, allowing one run and three hits in seven innings.
Scott Elarton (1-0, 6.00) will be making his fourth start of the season for the Royals, who have dropped four in a row. The 6-7 righthander has failed to pitch more than 5 1/3 innings in any of his starts this far and has been prone to the longball, giving up five home runs.
The Royals will be looking to change their luck at home, where they own a major league worst 9-18 record. The Seattle Mariners completed a three-game series sweep here on Sunday. The Royals are 11-14 this month and have not finished a month above the .500 mark since July 2003.
The Orioles are 3-0 against the Royals this season and have won 18 of the last 23 games between the teams dating back to 2004.
Baltimore's Miguel Tejada hit his third home run in four games on Sunday in an 8-4 win against the Oakland Athletics.
