Rangers look to end five-game skid in Oakland

OAKLAND, California (Ticker) - The Texas Rangers look to break out of a slump when they visit the Oakland Athletics on Monday.

Texas has lost five straight, 12 of 16 and are just 8-17 since the start of May.

The Rangers hope starter Robinson Tejeda (4-4, 5.18 ERA) can right the ship in the team's first visit to Oakland this season.

The Rangers won two of three against the Athletics in Texas earlier this year and Tejeda pitched during one of the wins, though he did not receive a decision. He allowed three runs and nine hits in 6 1/3 innings when the Rangers beat Oakland 4-3 on April 22.

Chad Gaudin (4-1, 2.58) will take the mound for Oakland, which has dropped two straight. The righthander opposed Tejeda in the April 22 defeat, though he did not factor in the decision after allowing one run in six innings. In his last four starts, Gaudin is 3-0 with a 2.42 ERA.

Oakland is batting .251 as a team and has grounded into a league-leading 52 double plays this season. Texas slugger Sammy Sosa remains two home runs shy of reaching 600 for his career.
