RHP Marshall takes mound as Cubs host Marlins

CHICAGO (Ticker) - Sean Marshall gets the ball for Chicago Cubs as they open a three-game series with the Florida Marlins on Monday.

Chicago, which has lost six of its last 10 games, is coming off a 2-1 loss in 11 innings to the Los Angeles Dodgers on Sunday.

The Cubs will look to Marshall (0-1, 2.57 ERA) to help them get their six-game homestand off on the right note.

Marshall, who was called up from Class AAA Iowa on Tuesday to replace Angel Guzman, made his first start of the season Wednesday against San Diego and was extremely impressive. The lefthander allowed two runs and four hits with a career-high eight strikeouts but took the loss in a 2-1 setback.

As for Florida, they had been hot before getting swept by the New York Mets over the weekend. The Marlins had won eight of their last 10 games, but were outscored 19-8 in the series.

Byung-Hun Kim (2-2, 7.02) makes his third start for Florida since being acquired from Colorado. In his first two starts, Kim has not fared well, yielding 11 runs in 10 2/3 innings. The righthander allowed four runs in 5 1/3 inning with a career-high six walks in a 8-7 loss to Philadelphia on Wednesday.
