Orioles look to continue winning ways against Royals
May 29, 2007 - 1:59 PM Baltimore (24-27) at Kansas City (19-33) 8:10 pm EDTKANSAS CITY, Missouri (Ticker) - When the Baltimore Orioles live up to their reputation as an offensive team, they are difficult to beat.
The Orioles continue their series with the Kansas City Royals on Tuesday at Kauffman Stadium.
During their current three-game winning streak, the Orioles have scored at least eight runs in each contest. They are 20-4 this season when scoring at least five runs.
One of the starters that would appreciate that kind of run support is Jeremy Guthrie (2-1, 3.09 ERA). The righthander, who has yielded three runs or fewer in each of his five starts, has surrendered a total of four runs over his last three outings.
Guthrie allowed three runs and seven hits over seven innings on Thursday in a 5-4 loss to Toronto as the bullpen blew the lead that he left with for the second time in his last three outings. Guthrie has made one start among his four appearances against Kansas City, sporting a 0-0 record with a 6.10 ERA.
Jorge De La Rosa (4-4, 4.65) will look to rebound from his worst start of the season for the Royals. He set career highs with seven walks and nine runs allowed against the Indians on Thursday over 4 1/3 innings.
De La Rosa has never faced the Royals, who have been outscored 45-11 during a five-game losing streak, one shy of its season high.
In the four games between the teams this season, Baltimore has outscored Kansas City 25-7, including the 9-1 victory on Monday.
