Orioles look to continue riding hot streak
Jun 1, 2007 - 1:22 PM Baltimore (27-27) at LA Angels (33-22) 10:05 pm EDTANAHEIM, California (Ticker) - There is little doubt that Brian Roberts can set the table for the Baltimore Orioles. Lately, however, he has also been cooking the meal as well.
The Orioles aim to win their seventh straight game as they continue their four-game weekend series with the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim on Friday.
Roberts has been instrumental in Baltimore's six-game winning streak, as he is hitting .476 (10-for-21) with five runs scored and five RBI during the stretch. He has reached base at least twice in each game during the streak.
To continue the win streak, Daniel Cabrera (4-5, 4.78 ERA) will need to shake his road struggles. He has dropped each of his three road starts.
The righthander allowed four runs and five hits over six innings of an 8-4 win over Oakland on Sunday. Cabrera is 2-1 with a 5.32 ERA in four career starts against the Angels.
Anaheim will ask John Lackey (8-3, 2.36 ERA) to do something he has done more than any other player in the majors besides Boston's Josh Beckett and Cleveland's C.C. Sabathia - win a game. The staff ace is aiming to become the first nine-game winner in the majors.
Lackey, who will be looking to set a new career high with his fifth straight win, surrendered two runs and five hits over five frames of a 4-3 win over the New York Yankees. He is 4-2 with a 3.52 ERA in seven lifetime outings against the Orioles.
