Duda blasts Mets past Braves

Apr 7, 2012 - 10:23 PM Flushing, NY (Sports Network) - Lucas Duda recorded his first career multi- home run game and the New York Mets beat the Atlanta Braves, 4-2, at Citi Field.

David Wright also homered as part of a three-hit performance for the Mets, who are off to their first 2-0 start since 2009.

A two-run blast by Martin Prado was among the five hits given up by New York starter R.A. Dickey (1-0) over his six innings of work.

"I'm hoping this is going to be the norm for us," Dickey said.

Jair Jurrjens (0-1) allowed three runs on seven hits and walked three in 4 1/3 innings for Atlanta, which was shut out by the Mets in Thursday's season- opener.

"We just can't string anything together [offensively]," said Braves manager Fredi Gonzalez.

The Braves were in a prime position to get on the board in the first inning. Michael Bourn doubled to lead off the game and a Prado groundout advanced him to third. Bourn, though, was tagged out trying to score on a pitch that got away from New York catcher Josh Thole.

Wright knocked in the game's lone run Thursday and opened the scoring in the bottom of the first with a solo home run to right-center.

A smash by Duda put New York up 2-0 in the fourth, and the Mets were looking for more runs later in the frame but left the bases loaded.

Atlanta tied the game in the next frame when Bourn drew a two-out walk and Prado followed with a drive just inside the left-field foul pole.

The Mets moved ahead in the bottom of the fifth on Thole's two-out single that bounced in front of Atlanta right fielder Jason Heyward and scored Ike Davis.

Duda went deep off Chad Durbin to give New York a two-run lead in the seventh.

Despite allowing a pair of ninth-inning singles, Frank Francisco earned his second save in as many games.
