Zambrano makes home debut for Marlins against Astros
Apr 14, 2012 - 2:44 PMVideo
Zambrano holds a 16-8 mark with a 2.72 ERA in 34 games (32 starts) vs. Houston. In his career, he has a home record of 6-4 with a 2.13 ERA in 15 starts, which includes a current five-game winning streak.
Zambrano's first start of 2012 resulted in a no-decision when he threw six innings at Cincinnati, allowing four runs.
Bud Norris also didn't factor in the decision of his opening start of 2012. The Astros righty pitched seven innings against Colorado and had eight strikeouts. He's 1-1 with a 6.65 ERA in four previous starts vs. the Marlins.
Last night's opener of this three-game set went to 11 innings, when Gaby Sanchez drove in Chris Coghlan with a double, sending Miami to a 5-4 victory over the Astros.
Brandon Lyon (0-1) failed to record an out, allowing Coghlan to reach with an infield single to third. Sanchez followed by lacing the game-winning hit to left.
"For me, it's great that it happened, but I would be just as happy as anybody else doing it," Sanchez said.
It made a winner of Ryan Webb (1-0) who turned in a scoreless top of the 11th for the Marlins, who had dropped two in a row at Philadelphia.
J.D. Martinez finished with two hits, including a two-run homer, and two runs scored for the Astros, who have lost three in a row.
"All of our four losses, guys have done a great job at getting ourselves back in games," Astros manager Brad Mills said. "We've given ourselves a chance to win, or at least score runs, but it hasn't been there."
The Marlins took six of the seven meetings last season.
