Glavine looks for win No. 296 vs. Phillies

FLUSHING, New York (Ticker) -- Tom Glavine takes the mound in his quest for win No. 300 when the New York Mets host the division rival Philadelphia Phillies on Tuesday.

Glavine (5-3, 3.44 ERA) will be trying to stop a two-game losing streak and collect career win No. 296. The veteran lefthander has not been given a lot of support, with the Mets scoring just one run in his last two starts.

On Wednesday, Glavine allowed three runs and nine hits in seven innings in a 3-0 loss to San Francisco.

Overall, New York has scored a total of three runs in losing two of three to the Arizona Diamondbacks over the weekend.

However, the team should get a boost as center fielder Carlos Beltran is expected to be back in the lineup after missing three games with a sprained right knee. Beltran, who is hitting .297 with eight homers and 35 RBI, suffered the injury on Thursday in a collision at first base with San Francisco's Rich Aurilia.

The Phillies are coming off a 2-5 homestand and will send Jamie Moyer (5-4, 4.23) to the hill.

In his last start, Moyer yielded four runs and eight hits in 7 2/3 innings in a 4-3 loss to Arizona on Wednesday.
