Pujols, Cardinals look to stay hot vs. Reds

ST. LOUIS (Ticker) -- Albert Pujols is starting to heat up, and it's no coincidence that the St. Louis Cardinals are following.

Pujols and the Cardinals look for their fifth win in the last six games when they host the National League-worst Cincinnati Reds on Tuesday.

Pujols, who had just six homers in the first month of the season, hit a pair in Sunday's 8-6 win over Houston.

Now Pujols and the Cardinals face a Reds team that has lost nine of 13.

Todd Wellemeyer (1-0, 3.86 ERA) takes the mound for St. Louis in the second start of his career. A converted reliever, Wellemeyer allowed three runs and seven hits in five innings in a 8-4 win over Colorado on Wednesday.

As for the Reds, they have a reason to be optimistic. Ace Aaron Harang (6-2, 4.22) takes the mound Tuesday and is 3-1 with a 3.55 ERA in his last four starts vs. St. Louis.

Harang, who is trying to win back-to-back starts for the first time this season, is coming off his first complete game of 2007 in a 4-3 win over Houston on Wednesday. The righthander allowed three runs - two earned - and six hits with seven strikeouts.
