Hammel deals, Baltimore rolls over Toronto
Apr 26, 2012 - 2:48 AMVideo
Hammel (3-0) fanned seven while allowing just four hits and one walk, and Pedro Strop notched his second save of the season after Brett Lawrie grounded into a game-ending, 6-4-3 double play.
Adam Jones added an RBI double for Baltimore, which has won three straight.
Eric Thames had two hits for the Blue Jays, who got six innings of two-run ball from Kyle Drabek (2-1).
Betemit smacked a solo homer to dead center field, just out of the reach of Colby Rasmus, to give Baltimore a 1-0 lead in the second inning.
Toronto's best opportunity to score runs off of Hammel came in the fourth, but Rasmus struck out swinging with the bases loaded.
In Baltimore's half of the fourth, Davis laced a solo shot to left field to make it 2-0.
Baltimore added an insurance run in eighth. Nick Markakis worked a two-out walk and Jones lined a double down the left-field line to bring him home.
Adam Lind and Thames began the ninth with back-to-back singles, but Edwin Encarnacion flied out to center field and Lawrie grounded into a double play to end the game.
