Blue Jays aim for fourth straight win
Jun 6, 2007 - 2:48 PM Tampa Bay (24-32) at Toronto (28-29) 7:07 pm EDTTORONTO (Ticker) -- Down seven runs after 3 1/3 innings on Tuesday, the Toronto Blue Jays could have given up. Instead, they rallied with six runs in the bottom of the ninth and now have a chance to go for their longest winning streak of the season.
The Blue Jays continue their three-game series with the Tampa Bay Devil Rays on Wednesday at the Rogers Centre.
Even though their ace, Roy Halladay, lasted just 3 1/3 innings in just his second outing since coming off the disabled list, Toronto has picked up steam lately. The Blue Jays have won 15 of their last 23 games after opening May with a nine-game losing streak.
With a win on Wednesday, they will reach the .500 mark for the first time since May 1.
Toronto will send Tomo Ohka (2-4, 5.30 ERA), who will try to get his first win in five starts, to the mound. He allowed three runs and eight hits over seven innings of a 9-8, 13-inning win over the Minnesota Twins in his last start on May 26.
Ohka is 2-0 with a 2.68 ERA in six lifetime starts against Tampa Bay.
The Devil Rays will counter with Scott Kazmir (3-3, 3.95), who is coming off a 4-1 loss to Kansas City in which he allowed three runs in seven frames.
The lefthander is 2-4 with a 3.43 ERA in 10 lifetime starts against the Blue Jays.
