Royals aim to take another series from Indians

CLEVELAND (Ticker) -- No team has won a series this season in Cleveland. With another victory on Thursday, the Kansas City Royals could be the first.

The Royals will attempt to wrap up a three-game series with the Cleveland Indians in the rubber game at Jacobs Field.

Kansas City may be 13-17 on the road this season, but they have won nine of their last 13 contests away from home. The Royals are just one of five teams to win a series against the Indians this season, doing so at Kauffman Stadium from May 22-24.

They now have a chance to take the final two games of this three-game set after Ryan Shealy homered and drove in two runs to help the Royals grab a four-run lead and hold on for a 4-3 victory on Wednesday.

Odalis Perez (3-5, 5.74 ERA), who is looking to win consecutive road starts for the first time in over two years, will get the start for Kansas City. In Saturday's 9-4 victory at Tampa Bay, he surrendered four runs and eight hits over five innings.

The lefthander is 1-0 with a 3.60 ERA in four lifetime starts against the Indians.

Fausto Carmona (6-1, 3.29) looks to win his seventh consecutive decision for Cleveland. The righthander has not been charged with a loss since his first start of the season on April 13.

On Friday, Carmona allowed five runs and a season-high 10 hits over six frames as the Indians posted a 12-11 comeback win over the Detroit Tigers. The righthander has made three lifetime appearances - including one start - against the Royals, going 0-0 with a 6.23 ERA in 8 2/3 innings.
