D-Backs turn to Corbin in hopes of halting slide vs. Giants

Corbin is 1-1 so far in his first two major league starts and comes into tonight's affair on a losing note. In Saturday's 4-3 road loss to the New York Mets, Corbin lasted only 3 1/3 innings and allowed four runs and five hits with two strikeouts and a pair of walks.
The left-hander, who will make his first home start Friday, won his major league debut on April 30 at Miami. He held the Marlins to three runs over 5 2/3 innings in that one. Corbin's ERA is 7.00 in nine innings pitched.
Arizona was just swept in three games versus St. Louis and starter Wade Miley took the loss in Wednesday's 7-2 decision, as he was reached for three runs and 10 hits in 5 2/3 frames. J.J. Putz surrendered four runs in just two- thirds of an inning in relief.
"We just got out-executed the whole series,' said Arizona manager Kirk Gibson. "They out-pitched us, they out-defended us, they swung the bats better than we did and we're happy to see them go."
Miley also knocked in a run and Aaron Hill added an RBI. Lyle Overbay and Ryan Roberts each posted three hits for the Diamondbacks, who have dropped seven of eight overall.
San Francisco is going through its struggles with six losses in the past nine tries and just dropped two of three meetings with the Los Angeles Dodgers.
The Giants suffered a 6-2 loss in Wednesday's series finale and were done in by a four-run fourth inning by L.A. Giants ace and two-time NL Cy Young Award winner Tim Lincecum fell to 2-3 on the season after he gave up four runs and eight hits in five innings. He also struck out eight and walked two.
"Tim had good stuff and then in the fourth he made mistakes and got the ball up," said Giants manager Bruce Bochy. "It's too bad because he had good stuff tonight."
Lincecum and Buster Posey each drove in a run for the Giants.
San Francisco will resume its six-game road trip with Madison Bumgarner on the mound tonight and he leads the team in wins with five. Bumgarner (5-1) has ripped off five straight wins since losing his 2012 debut and has allowed just one run in each of his previous three trips to the hill. In Saturday's 5-2 win versus Milwaukee, he fired seven innings of one-run ball and fanned five.
The left-hander has lasted at least six innings during his winning streak and owns a 2.31 earned run average this season. Bumgarner's lone loss this season was against Arizona on the road on April 7, when he was hit for four runs in four innings of a 5-4 setback. He is 3-1 with a 3.11 ERA in seven career games (6 starts) against the Diamondbacks.
Arizona swept the Giants in three games from April 6-8 and has won eight in a row in this series. San Francisco is winless in seven straight trips to Chase Field, last winning there on June 15, 2011.
