Zito looks for better results aginst Athletics

SAN FRANCISCO (Ticker) -- Barry Zito's first outing against his former teammates didn't go that well, but he has a chance to avenge the loss.

Zito, who pitched for the Oakland Athletics for seven seasons before joining the San Francisco Giants this offseason, will be on the mound when the teams meet Saturday.

Zito (6-5, 3.87 ERA) was shelled in his first start against Oakland on May 18, giving up seven earned runs in four innings and walked seven in 15-3 loss.

The Athletics counter with Dan Haren (6-2, 1.70), who owns the best ERA in the American League. The 6-5 righthander faced the Giants on May 19, picking up a win after allowing two runs and three hits in seven innings during a 4-2 victory.

San Francisco slugger Barry Bonds, who is 10 shy of breaking Hank Aaron's all-time home run record, has one home run in nine career at-bats against Haren.

Shannon Stewart's pinch-hit, two-out, two-run single in the top of the 10th inning lifted the Athletics to a 5-3 victory over the Giants in Friday's game.
