Fielder looks to continue tear, end Brewers road woes

ARLINGTON, Texas (Ticker) - With Prince Fielder atop the home run leaders, perhaps it is fitting for someone with a name of royalty to lead in one of baseball's most cherished stats.

The Milwaukee Brewers continue their three-game interleague series with the Texas Rangers on Saturday at Rangers Ballpark.

Tied with the Yankees' Alex Rodriguez for the most homers in the majors with 22, Fielder is well on his way of smashing his rookie mark of 28 by the All-Star break.

While he is experiencing great personal success as he has blasted seven homers in his last 11 games, his team has not taken advantage as they have lost five of the seven games in which he homered and dropped 17 of their last 25 games overall.

One of the Brewers bright lights lately though has been Ben Sheets (6-3, 3.51), who has won four of his last five starts and has allowed no more than three runs in any of his last nine outings. This will be his first career meeting against the Rangers.

In a 3-0 win over Florida on Sunday, the righthander yielded seven hits and a walk with seven strikeouts over six innings.

Prior to his last outing on May 25 against Boston, when he was excused from the game after suffering a blister on his right middle finger, Brandon McCarthy (4-4, 6.35) had enjoyed a strong four-game stretch of starts. He went 3-0 with a 3.21 ERA in those four contests.

In the outing against the Red Sox, he surrendered four runs and four walks over two frames in a 10-6 loss, but was involved in the decision. This will be his first career appearance against the Brewers.
