Brewers pound Padres
Jun 9, 2012 - 5:52 AMVideo
Aramis Ramirez had two hits and an RBI and Rickie Weeks also drove in a run for the Brewers, winners in three straight.
"We've had so many different things happen, we have a different lineup almost every day," said Hart. "We just have to stay focused and win as many games as we can."
Shaun Marcum (5-3) gave up three runs on six hits and three walks while fanning six over 6 1/3 innings to earn the win.
Everth Cabrera hit an inside-the-park homer and Cameron Maybin also hit a solo home run for the Padres, losers in five of their last six.
Edinson Volquez (2-6) was pegged with the loss after giving up six runs on six hits and four walks over five innings.
Milwaukee took a 1-0 lead in the first when Hart crushed a lead off homer to right.
But the Padres tied it at 1-1 in the third when Cabrera hit an inside-the-park homer. Cabrera laced a line drive to center and Carlos Gomez attempted to make a diving stab, but the ball bounced under his glove and rolled to the fence.
San Diego took a 2-1 lead in the fourth. With the bases loaded and two outs Marcum walked Cabrera to force in a run.
Milwaukee came back with three in the home half to go up 4-1. Cody Ransom walked and Gomez reached on a fielder's choice to set the table for Maldonando who clobbered his second homer of the season.
The Brewers tacked on two more in the fifth to go up 6-1. Norichika Aoki doubled then stole third before scoring on a Ramirez ground out. Hart opened the frame with his second leadoff homer of the game.
"He tried to go down and in, but left it over the heart of the plate," said Padres manager Bud Black. "He's a big, strong kid and he connected. That was a back breaker."
Maybin's solo homer in the sixth made it 6-2.
Green hit a three-run pinch-hit homer in the seventh to make it 9-2 Milwaukee. Ryan Braun and Ramirez hit back-to-back singles before Green belted his second career home run. Green has hit pinch-hit homers in his last two at-bats.
The Padres scored two in the ninth to make it 9-5. Nick Hundley doubled and Cabrera reached on an error. Logan Forsythe followed with a triple to clear the bases.
Game Notes
Hart has 13 career two-homer games...The Brewers were just 1-for-9 with runners in scoring position and left eight runners on base...Carlos Quentin has a hit in each game he has played in since coming off the disabled list May 28 (eight games).
