Bedard after rare home win as Orioles host Rockies
Jun 10, 2007 - 2:21 PM Colorado (30-32) at Baltimore (29-33), 1:35 pm EDTBALTIMORE (Ticker) -- Baltimore Orioles starter Erik Bedard has pitched well at home this season, but has only one win to show for it.
The Baltimore lefthander will take the mound here on Sunday as the Orioles play the finale of a three-game interleague series with the Colorado Rockies.
Bedard (4-3, 3.73 ERA) has started 13 games this season, but only five at home, where he is 1-2 with a solid 2.93 ERA over 30 2/3 innings. Opponents are batting just .214 against Bedard in Oriole Park at Camden Yards.
Conversely, Rockies' start Jason Hirsh (2-6, 4.92) hasn't won a road start since April 6 - a span of four starts. Hirsh is 1-2 with a 4.55 ERA in his five road starts this season.
Kaz Matsui's two-out RBI double in the top of the 10th inning lifted the Rockies to a 3-2 triumph on Saturday as the Rockies even the series at one game apiece.
Willy Taveras extended his hitting streak to 14 games in the victory with a first inning single.
Matt Holliday, who leads the National League with a .348 average, was hitless for the second consecutive game. It's just the second time this year that Holliday was hitless for two straight games. The last time was May 15-17, and the next day Holliday began the 15-game hitting streak.
Baltimore reliever Chad Bradford has faced 296 consecutive batters without giving up a home run - the longest streak in the majors.
