RHP Matsuzaka takes mound as Red Sox go for sweep

PHOENIX (Ticker) - Daisuke Matsuzaka will try and help the Boston Red Sox to sweep of the Arizona Diamondbacks when he takes the mound on Sunday in the finale of their interleague series.

Matsuzaka (7-4, 4.63 ERA) is coming off a start in which he threw 130 pitches and allowed two runs and seven hits in a 2-0 loss to Oakland on Tuesday.

The Red Sox, who won 4-3 on Saturday night when Mike Lowell hit a sacrifice fly in the 10th inning that scored David Ortiz, will be looking for their fifth straight win.

Arizona had been red-hot winning 11 of 13 before dropping two straight to the Red Sox. Randy Johnson (3-2, 3.78) takes the mound in hopes of getting the Diamondbacks back on track.

Johnson has won three of his last four starts and has allowed just four runs in his last 22 2/3 innings. The 43-year-old is coming off a no-decision in which he allowed two runs and seven hits with eight strikeouts against San Francisco on Wednesday.
