Bowie looks to continue success as starter
Jun 12, 2007 - 1:17 PM Washington (26-37) at Baltimore (29-34) 7:05 pm EDTBALTIMORE (Ticker) - Micah Bowie hopes to continue his recent success since moving into the rotation.
Bowie will make his fifth start of the season as the Washington Nationals face the Baltimore Orioles in the opener of a three-game interleague series on Tuesday.
After 20 relief appearances, Bowie (2-2, 3.79 ERA) has not lost since moving into the rotation on May 20. The lefthander has not had an outing longer than 5 1/3 innings this season but Washington is 4-0 in his starts.
Bowie was not involved in the decision when he pitched just five innings and gave up one run in his last outing against the Pittsburgh Pirates on Wednesday.
The Orioles will counter with Daniel Cabrera (5-6, 4.70), who pitched eight innings in a 9-5 victory over the Seattle Mariners on Wednesday. The 26-year-old gave up four runs, seven hits and four walks with six strikeouts.
Baltimore has beaten Washington in two of its three meetings this season. All three of the games were decided by just one run.
