Red-hot Carmona faces Marlins

Jun 12, 2007 - 1:40 PM Cleveland (37-25) at Florida (31-33) 7:05 pm EDT

MIAMI (Ticker) - The Cleveland Indians hope to avoid a three-game losing streak when they face the Florida Marlins on Tuesday.

Since moving a season-high 15 games over .500, the Indians have lost six of their last nine games.

The Indians send the red-hot Fausto Carmona (7-1, 3.11 ERA) to the mound. Since losing his first start, Carmona has gone 7-0 in his last 10 outings, allowing more than three runs just once during that span.

Carmona pitched seven strong innings, giving up one run, seven hits and a walk with five strikeouts in an 8-3 victory over the Kansas City Royals on Thursday.

The Marlins will counter with Scott Olsen (4-5, 5.27), who has stuggled lately, posting an 0-2 record with 7.20 ERA in his last three starts.

Olsen did not receive a decision in his last start when he pitched 4 1/3 innings and gave up two runs, four hits and five walks with four strikeouts in a 7-4 win against the Atlanta Braves on Wednesday.

Florida also is hoping to avoid its third straight loss.
