Red Sox enjoying home success in interleague play

BOSTON (Ticker) -- The Boston Red Sox look to continue their dominance over National League teams at Fenway Park when they host the Colorado Rockies on Wednesday.

The Red Sox are 18-2 in interleague play at Fenway since May 22, 2005.

If starter Curt Schilling (6-2, 3.49 ERA) pitches anything like he did in his previous start, the Red Sox are sure to improve on that record.

The veteran righthander came within one out of throwing his first career no-hitter in Thursday's 1-0 win against the Oakland Athletics. Schilling gave up a two-out single in the ninth inning to Shannon Stewart and had to settle for a one-hitter.

Josh Fogg (1-5, 5.06) gets the start for the Rockies, who have won 13 of 19 games. The righthander hasn't won since April 25 - a span of six starts. In one career start at Fenway, Fogg allowed five runs in seven innings and did not get a decision.

In the series opener on Tuesday, J.D. Drew's sacrifice fly in the bottom of the eighth inning made a winner out of starter Tim Wakefield as the Red Sox picked up a 2-1 victory.

Boston slugger David Ortiz reached base safely in all four plate appearances. In his last 17 games, Ortiz is batting .403 (25-for-62) with two home runs and nine RBI.
