Lee to start for struggling Indians

Jun 13, 2007 - 1:18 PM Cleveland (37-26) at Florida (32-33) 7:05 pm EDT

MIAMI (Ticker) - After watching their division lead vanish in part because of a three-game losing streak, the Cleveland Indians will send Cliff Lee to the mound to stop the bleeding.

Lee and the Indians continue a three-game interleague series with the Florida Marlins on Wednesday.

Following a 3-0 loss in Tuesday's opener, the Indians fell into a tie with the Detroit Tigers (37-26) atop the American League Central Division.

Lee (2-4, 6.31 ERA) has lost his last four starts. The 28-year-old lefthander has given up 20 runs in 19 2/3 innings with just 14 strikeouts.

Lee pitched six innings, yielding four runs and four hits with three walks in a 4-3 setback to the Cincinnati Reds on Friday.

The Marlins will counter with Byung-Hyun Kim (3-2, 5.74), who did not receive a decision after he lasted just 2 2/3 innings, giving up seven runs - six earned - and seven hits with four walks in a 14-8 triumph over the Tampa Devil Rays on Friday.

Scott Olsen pitched seven scoreless innings, yielding just three hits with six strikeouts, and Miguel Olivo drove in three runs to lift Florida to a 3-0 victory on Tuesday.
