BRONX, New York (Ticker) -- The New York Yankees look to run their season-high winning streak to nine games when they host the Arizona Diamondbacks on Thursday.

Just two weeks removed from a 21-29 record and a 14 1/2 deficit in the American League East, the Yankees are over the .500 mark for the first time since April 20 when they were 8-7. New York also has moved within 8 1/2 games of the first-place Boston Red Sox.

Seeking his first win in three starts, Andy Pettitte (3-4, 3.11 ERA) takes the mound for the Yankees. In six career games - five starts - against Arizona, the 6-5 lefthander has struggled, going 1-5 with a 5.01 ERA.

Doug Davis (4-7, 3.48) gets the start for the Diamondbacks, who came into this series having won 12 of 16. The lefthander is coming off his shortest outing of the season, giving up five runs in four innings during Friday's 10-3 loss to the Red Sox.

Jorge Posada, Alex Rodriguez and Hideki Matsui all homered as the Yankees earned a 7-2 victory over the Diamondbacks on Wednesday. Rodriguez's homer was his major league-leading 25th and gave him six and 20 RBI in June.

Bobby Abreu has a 12-game hitting streak for the Yankees, who are 109-73 all-time in interleague play.
