Final
Feldman, Rangers top Royals
Aug 5, 2012 - 2:11 AMVideo
Feldman (6-6) allowed two runs on six hits with four strikeouts and a walk to win his sixth straight decision. Mike Adams got the final out in the eighth and Alexi Ogando worked around a pair of singles in the ninth to notch his third save of the season.
"I want to get a complete game," Feldman said of being pulled in the eighth. "One of these days I'd love to get one, but as long as we're winning and I'm keeping the team in the game, I'm happy with that."
Mike Olt knocked in the first two runs of his major league career and Josh Hamilton contributed a two-run single for the defending American League champs, who came out on top for the fourth consecutive game.
Alex Gordon and Chris Getz drove in runs for the Royals, who have lost consecutive games on the heels of a three-game winning streak.
Will Smith (2-4) was tagged with the loss after giving up four runs on eight hits and three walks over 5 2/3 innings.
"They've got a lot of big strong guys that can hurt you, so you want to keep it away from them and keep it down," remarked Smith.
Texas opened the scoring with a pair of runs in the third. After Olt grounded out, Ian Kinsler ripped one on a line into right for a single and Elvis Andrus doubled into the right field corner before Hamilton brought both runners home with a clutch single into left field.
Mike Napoli drew a one-out walk in the fourth, went first-to-third on a David Murphy infield single and scored via sacrifice fly to deep right by Olt, extending the lead to 3-0.
The Royals got two runs back in the fifth. Salvador Perez began the inning with a free pass and Eric Hosmer singled before Getz knocked home Perez with a groundout. Jarrod Dyson blooped a single into left and another groundout -- this one by Gordon -- allowed Hosmer to cross the plate, cutting the deficit to 3-2.
The Rangers added a run in the sixth when Michael Young lined a one-out single to left and came around to score on a base hit back through the box by Olt.
Alcides Escobar reached first with one out in the eighth on an error by Olt and made it to third with two outs, but Adams came on in relief of Feldman and fanned Billy Butler.
Ogando allowed singles to Mike Moustakas and Hosmer in the ninth, but escaped unscathed.
