Orioles and Diamondbacks both looking to end skids
Jun 15, 2007 - 1:18 PM Arizona (37-30) at Baltimore (29-37) 7:05 pm EDTBALTIMORE (Ticker) -- Both the Baltimore Orioles and Arizona Diamondbacks will be looking get back into the win column when they open a three-game interleague series on Friday.
The Orioles have lost five straight and 10 of 12 while the Diamondbacks enter the road series having lost three in a row and six of seven.
Wins have eluded Orioles starter Erik Bedard (4-4, 3.72 ERA) since he won three straight starts from April 8-18. In 10 starts since, the lefthander is just 1-2 despite a 3.11 ERA over that span.
Arizona rookie starter Micah Owings (4-1, 3.76) has rebounded nicely from his worst start of the season. The 24-year-old righthander allowed a season-high seven runs in 2 2/3 innings against the Pittsburgh Pirates on May 19. In three starts since, Owings is 2-0 with a 1.80 ERA in 20 innings.
The Diamondbacks are batting .090 (6-for-67) with runners in scoring position over their last nine games and, in their last 11 games, the team is hitting .206 (76-for-369) overall.
Baltimore's Aubrey Huff extended his hitting streak to nine games in Thursday's 3-1 loss to the Washington Nationals and is batting .441 (15-for-34) during the streak. However, he has not homered since May 9.
The Diamondbacks have visited Oriole Park at Camden Yards once before, taking two of three games in 2004.
