Royals' Bannister looks to continue winning ways

KANSAS CITY, Missouri (Ticker) - Brian Bannister seeks his fourth win in as many starts when the Kansas City Royals host the Florida Marlins in the finale of a three-game interleague series on Sunday.

Bannister (3-3, 2.91 ERA) has won a career-best three consecutive starts and posted a 0.41 ERA in 22 innings during that span. The righthander has pitched at least seven innings in each of his last four starts. The 26-year-old was 0-3 through his first six starts this season before begining his personal winning streak.

Coming off his best start of the season, Scott Olsen (5-5, 4.81 ERA) takes the mound for the Marlins. The lefthander pitched seven strong innings and allowed three hits in the Marlins 3-0 triumph over the Cleveland Indians on Tuesday. In five road starts this season, Olsen is 2-3 with a 5.50 ERA.

Miguel Cabrera hit two home runs and Miguel Olivo had five hits and an RBI to lead the Marlins to a 9-8 victory over the Royals on Saturday.

Olivo, whose five hits were a career high and matched a franchise record, is 7-for-8 in the series. He has a .416 (37-for-89) career batting average against the Royals to go with 22 RBI.

John Buck hit a pair of solo home runs for the Royals and already has matched his career-high in home runs with 12.
