Webb, Diamondbacks look for sweep against Orioles

BALTIMORE (Ticker) - Brandon Webb takes the mound as the Arizona Diamondbacks will look to sweep the Baltimore Orioles in the finale of a three-game interleague series on Sunday.

Webb (6-4, 3.18) will look to rebound from the 4-1 loss he suffered against the New York Yankees in his previous start on Tuesday. The Diamondbacks' ace pitched seven innings and surrendered four runs - three earned - and five hits with two walks and four strikeouts.

Webb has been excellent in June. The righthander has posted a 2-1 record with 1.23 ERA with 19 strikeouts in three starts this month.

He will be opposed by Brian Burres (3-2, 2.80), who was scheduled to start Saturday but he complained of shoulder soreness on Friday, prompting the Orioles to switch him with Daniel Cabrera in the rotation.

Burres' last outing was in a relief appearance. The lefthander pitched 1 1/3 scoreless innings with two walks and two strikeouts.

Burres pitched 5 2/3 innings, yielding one run and six hits with three walks in a 5-4 loss to the Seattle Mariners in his last start on June 5.

If Baltimore hopes to avoid its eighth straight loss, it will need a better performance from the bullpen. The bullpen has given up eight runs over just three innings in this series.
