Minor (8-10), who carried a no-hitter into the seventh, allowed just one hit and struck out seven while walking four.
"He's a good pitcher, so you know when he has command of all of his pitches, it is tough to get to him," Braves center fielder Michael Bourn said of Minor. "He throws pretty hard. He comes from the left side and has some movement. He throws the ball well, man. He's only going to get better as he continues to learn and continues to develop as a pitcher."
Chipper Jones scored the game's lone run, while Michael Bourn, Jason Heyward and Minor also tallied hits for the Braves, winners in three of four.
Craig Kimbrel stranded two in the eighth inning and one in the ninth to earn his 33rd save of the year.
Alex White (2-8) was charged with the loss after giving up one unearned run on two hits and four walks over four innings.
Jordan Pacheco broke up Minor's no-hit bid with a single in the seventh inning.
"I am extremely disappointed that we got beat," Rockies manager Jim Tracy said. "As we have been doing for the last five weeks, we've played as hard as you can ask a club to play, but we couldn't get a timely hit."
The Rockies lost for just the sixth time in 17 games.
Atlanta took a 1-0 lead in the fourth when Brian McCann grounded into a force out to score Jones. DJ LeMahieu fielded the grounder and flipped it to Josh Rutledge at second, but Rutledge's throw was off target and sailed by Pacheco at first, allowing Jones to score.
The Rockies put runners on the corner with two outs in the eighth, but Kimbrel entered and struck out Pacheco to end the frame.
Kimbrel walked pinch-hitter Jason Giambi in the ninth but struck out Wilin Rosario to nail down his first-career multi-inning save.
Game Notes
Minor has gone at least six innings in five of his last six starts ... Jones is one hit shy of tying Bill Buckner (2,715) for 60th place on the all-time hits list ... Pacheco extended his hitting streak to an NL-best 14 games.
