Colon attempts to get back on track again
Jun 19, 2007 - 1:46 PM Houston (30-40) at LA Angels (45-26) 10:05 pm EDTANAHEIM, California (Ticker) -- The Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim have been so good lately, they've been able to overcome the ineffectiveness of ace Bartolo Colon.
Colon will attempt to get back on track again Tuesday when the Angels host the Houston Astros.
Colon (6-2, 5.73 ERA) has been awful over his last four starts, going 1-1 with a 9.58 ERA while allowing opponents to bat .380 against him.
A shoulder injury kept the former Cy Young Award winner out most of last season and the first month of the 2007 campaign.
Lingering issues with that shoulder may be at the root of his problems now, as he has struggled to regain his velocity.
The veteran righthander can expect to get some offensive support from Chone Figgins, who matched an Angels record with a 6-for-6 performance in Monday night's game against the Astros.
Figgins' sixth hit drove in the game-winning run in the ninth frame and capped a 19-hit night for the club.
Trying to slow Anaheim's offense will be Jason Jennings (0-1, 3.18). The 28-year-old righthander lasted just four innings last Thursday against Oakland.
He has yet to record a win in six starts this season, missing time with tendinitis in his throwing elbow.
