Zimmermann, Nats top Dodgers in twinbill opener

Sep 19, 2012 - 11:19 PM Washington, DC (Sports Network) - Jordan Zimmermann tossed six innings of one- run baseball, helping the NL East-leading Washington Nationals beat the Los Angeles Dodgers, 3-1, in the first game of a doubleheader Wednesday at Nationals Park.

Kurt Suzuki, Ryan Zimmerman and Tyler Moore had an RBI apiece for the Nationals, who snapped a three-game skid.

Zimmermann (11-8) gave up six hits while striking out four and walking two for Washington, which started a seven-game homestand on Wednesday.

Hanley Ramirez knocked in the lone run for the Dodgers, who have lost two in a row.

Los Angeles starter Aaron Harang (9-10) allowed two runs on seven hits over 4 1/3 innings.

Tuesday night's opener of this three-game series was postponed due to torrential downpours.
