Sabathia looks for 10th win in rubber game vs. Phillies

CLEVELAND (Ticker) -- C.C. Sabathia will take the mound as the Cleveland Indians host the Philadelphia Phillies in the finale of three-game interleague series on Wednesday.

Sabathia (9-2, 3.19 ERA) is hoping to pick up his 10th win of the season, which would tie him with Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim ace John Lackey and Josh Beckett of the Boston Red Sox for the most in the American League.

Sabathia has not recorded a win in two starts against interleague opponents this season. The 26-year-old lefthander tossed 8 1/3 innings and gave up five runs - four earned - and 12 hits with seven strikeouts in a 5-4 loss to the Atlanta Braves on Friday.

The Phillies will counter with Jon Lieber (3-5, 4.21), who gave up seven runs and 10 hits with five strikeouts over five innings in his last start, a 12-8 loss to the Detroit Tigers.

Lieber was coming off a complete game three-hit shutout with a season-high 11 strikeouts in a 4-0 triumph over the Kansas City Royals on June 9. Philadelphia is just 3-10 when Lieber starts this season.

Ryan Howard had three hits with a home run and four RBI in Tuesday's 9-6 victory over the Indians.
