Halladay seeks to bring order to Blue Jays

TORONTO (Ticker) -- Looking for their first win in three games, the Toronto Blue Jays continue their series with the Los Angeles Dodgers on Wednesday at Rogers Centre.

One day after seeing Dustin McGowan, who had won three straight decisions, get pounded by a Dodgers offense that has struggled to score lately, the Blue Jays are hoping to end their two-game losing streak as they send their ace to the mound.

Roy Halladay (7-2, 4.37 ERA), who has also won three straight decisions, will face the Dodgers for the second time this month. He has won each of his two starts against Los Angeles in his career, holding them to a .161 batting average and a 1.69 ERA.

Since his return from an appendectomy that caused him to miss three weeks, the righthander is 3-0 with a 4.38 ERA in four starts. That stretch included Friday, a 7-2 win over Washington, in which he allowed two runs and seven hits over 7 1/3 innings.

Hong-Chih Kuo (1-1, 2.04) will make his fourth start of the season. He outpitched San Diego's Jake Peavy on June 7 and picked up his first win of the season over the Mets on June 12, allowing one run over seven innings in a 4-1 victory.

The lefthanded Kuo has not allowed more than two runs in any of his previous starts. Kuo will be making his first career appearance against the Blue Jays.

After Los Angeles' 10-run outburst on Tuesday, it appears Toronto is the team with offensive issues, as it has scored three runs in its last two games after scoring 21 during a three-game winning streak.
