Twins make first visit to Miami

Jun 22, 2007 - 12:44 PM Minnesota (36-34) at Florida (35-38) 7:05 pm EDT

MIAMI (Ticker) - The Minnesota Twins make their first trip to Dolphin Stadium on Friday to open a three-game interleague series with the Florida Marlins.

The only other meeting between the teams occurred in 2002, when the Twins took two of three at the Metrodome.

Boof Bonser (5-3, 4.33 ERA) gets the starts for the Twins, who have won two straight and seven of 10. The righthander has had a rocky June, going 1-2 with a 7.02 ERA in three starts.

Florida starts Scott Olsen (5-6, 4.89), who followed up his best performance of the year with a loss to the Kansas City Royals on Sunday. Olsen pitched seven strong innings during a 3-0 victory over the Indians on June 12, but then gave up five runs - four earned - in six innings in a 5-4 loss to the Royals.

Minnesota's Luis Castillo, who played for Florida from 1996-2005, is batting .295 in 563 career games at Dolphin Stadium.

Since interleague play began in 1997, the Marlins own the best interleague mark in the National League at 104-79. Florida is 8-7 in interleague action this season, while the Twins have posted a 9-6 mark.
