Braun, Brewers look to stay hot vs. Royals

MILWAUKEE (Ticker) - The Milwaukee Brewers look for their longest winning streak in over a month as they continue their three-game interleague series with the Kansas City Royals on Saturday.

The Brewers won the series opener, 11-7, on Friday behind hot-hitting rookie Ryan Braun, who finished a triple shy of the cycle.

Braun is hitting a team-high .375 (27-for-72) in June after being called up from Class AAA Nashville on May 24. That is saying a lot considering he plays for a team with Prince Fielder, who leads the National League with 26 home runs.

Now, the Brewers hope they can parlay Braun's hot streak into their longest winning streak since they won six in a row from May 4-9.

Dave Bush (4-6, 4.58 ERA) takes the mound looking for consecutive wins for the first time this season. In his last start, Bush allowed two runs and five hits in 6 1/3 innings in a 5-2 win over Minnesota.

Meanwhile, the Royals, who have lost three straight, will send Brian Bannister (4-3, 3.21) to the mound. In his last start, Bannister yielded four runs and nine hits in six innings against Florida on Sunday after throwing 14 scoreless innings prior to that.
