McGowan, Blue Jays aim for series sweep of Rockies
Jun 24, 2007 - 2:34 PM Colorado (38-36) at Toronto (38-37), 1:07 pm EDTTORONTO (Ticker) - To get to a place they haven't been in nearly two months, the Toronto Blue Jays look to righthander Dustin McGowan.
McGowan and the Blue Jays aim for an interleague series sweep against the Colorado Rockies. The Blue Jays are aiming to reach the .500 mark for the first time since May 1.
Toronto defeated Colorado, 11-6, on Saturday for its second straight victory and third in four games. Designated hitter Frank Thomas went 4-for-4, including his 498th career homer for the Blue Jays.
McGowan (3-3, 5.68 ERA) toes the rubber trying to forget his last start. The righthander surrendered a season-high six runs along with eight hits in 1 1/3 innings in a 10-1 loss to the Los Angeles Dodgers on Tuesday.
The Rockies counter with Josh Fogg (3-5, 4.58 ERA). The righthander is coming off his best effort in 2007, yielding only a run and four hits in seven innings in a 3-1 win against the New York Yankees on Tuesday.
After allowing just a total of five runs in a three-game sweep of New York earlier this week, Rockies pitchers have been tagged for 17 in their last two vs. the Blue Jays.
