Marshall, Cubs seek first road sweep vs. White Sox

CHICAGO (Ticker) - Sean Marshall and the Chicago Cubs are a victory away from achieving something that hasn't happened since interleague play began.

Marshall and the Cubs look to sweep the cross-town rival Chicago White Sox on Sunday. In addition, a win here on Sunday would give the Cubs their first sweep of the White Sox at U.S. Cellular Field.

The Cubs defeated the White Sox, 2-1, on Saturday after Ryan Theriot's suicide bunt in the ninth inning plated Angel Pagan for the game's final run.

Marshall (3-2, 2.84) takes the mound seeking to win his fourth consecutive decision. The lefthander had a chance to do just that in his last start, but earned a no decision in a 5-4 Chicago win vs. Texas on Tuesday.

Jose Contreras (5-7, 4.81) counters for the White Sox, who have lost four straight and 21 of 26. The righthander earned his first win in nearly a month, allowing five runs and eight hits in 6 2/3 innings of a 10-6 victory over the Florida Marlins on Monday.

Contreras must be careful pitching to Cubs outfielder Alfonso Soriano, who has homered in both interleague games this weekend. Soriano has two blasts in four at-bats vs. Contreras.
