Bonderman looks for ninth straight win

DETROIT (Ticker) - Jeremy Bonderman and the Detroit Tigers are streaking.

Bonderman takes the mound in the opener of a four-game series with the Texas Rangers on Monday.

Bonderman (8-0, 4.01 ERA) is in search of his ninth straight win, but has not been pitching as well as his record indicates.

The righthander has an ERA of 4.96 during his eight-game winning streak but has received ample run support, as the Tigers have scored at least eight runs in each of his starts.

The 24-year-old needs to win his next three starts to match the franchise record of 11 straight set by Earl Whitehill in 1930 . He is the first Tiger to win eight in a row since Dave Mlicki from August 6-September 13, 1999.

Bonderman, who will aim to lead Detroit to its seventh straight win, allowed three runs and five hits in a season-low five innings against Washington on Wednesday. As for the Rangers, they had their season-high four-game winning streak snapped in a 12-9 loss to Houston on Sunday.

Kameron Loe (3-6, 6.34) takes the hill looking to get a new streak started. Loe has won both of his starts since being recalled from the minor leagues, allowing just three runs in 14 2/3 innings.
